Hi! I’m Mike, and I love good wine and cooking with it. I’m a retired restaurant owner, and a personal chef to my beautiful wife Nancy. Cooking has always been my passion, and I want to share my love for food, my recipes, and things I’ve learned along the way with you.
I strive to cook in a healthy nutritious way, but still fix great tasting food. It hasn’t always been this way, but as you get older you become more concerned about being healthy. Nancy and I needed to lose some weight and we decided that this is how we were going to accomplish it, and now it’s become more of a lifestyle.
We discovered that healthy food can be good food. You just need to start paying attention to nutrition, however you can. I’m 74, and I have an app on my phone that keeps track of nutrients and everything else that I consume. We have a balanced diet. We eat vegetables, meat, fish, chicken, and soups of course. We don’t eat meat every day. We learned that smaller portions of red meat and proteins can still satisfy you, if you take the time to fix things that are good.
Most of the recipes I share will be soups and other delicious food for two people, but a few of them will have some good leftovers. Soups are a good way to be able to experiment with cooking. You can add things or modify things. You don’t have to be precise about what you do, which makes it fun. You can try something new by adding a twist to something you’ve done before. I want people to realize that making soup is not hard and start making it at home.
I hope that you find my blog helpful and get exactly what you’re hoping out of it.
